This skin care preparation for external use having inhibited photocatalytic activity comprises the zinc silicate-coated zinc oxide and a water-insoluble saturated non-volatile oil or non-volatile silicone oil. The method for inhibiting the photocatalytic activity comprises compounding the skin care preparation for external use containing the zinc silicate-coated zinc oxide with the water-insoluble saturated non-volatile oil or non-volatile silicone oil.
