PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin irritation-alleviating agent capable of effectively alleviating irritation to the hair, skin, mucous membrane and the like by an irritating substance, and a low irritation composition containing the same.SOLUTION: An irritation-alleviating agent contains, as an active ingredient, at least one or more selected from the group consisting of biosurfactants, particularly mannosyl erythritol lipid (MEL), mannosyl mannitol lipid (MML), triacyl derivatives of mannosyl erythritol lipid (MEL) and triacyl derivatives of mannosyl mannitol lipid (MML).
