PURPOSE: To obtain a skin lightener and a skin cosmetic which have excellent skin-lightening effect and can prevent and treat skin spots and ephelis caused by sun burn by using a specific sulfonamide.
CONSTITUTION: A sulfonamide of formula I [R1 is H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an alkylthio; R2 is H, a halogen, an alkoxy, CF3; R3 is H, OH, a halogen, an alkylthio, a cycloalkyl, CF3, an alkoxy where R2 and R3 may form butadienyl; R4 is H, an alkyl, an aryl; R5 is H, an alkanoyl, benzoyl; R6 is formula II (R7 is H, an alkoxy; R8 is H, a halogen, an alkyl where R7 and R8 may form butadienyl), formula III (R9 is H, a halogen, an alkyl; R10 is H, an alkyl, an alkoxy); X, Y are each O, S, NH; (n) is 2-4] is used. The skin cosmetic contains the sulfonamide of formula I in an amount of 0.0001-10wt.%. The skin lightener inhibits the melanin formation in melanocytes.
