To improve resilience and to prevent elongation by forming a long- sized, freely curvable core material formed with ruggedness on its outside surface of a rigid material and coating the core material with a coating layer consisting of soft rubber or elastomer.
The core material 3 is formed as the freely curvable metallic ball chain having the ruggedness 31 and 32 on the outside surface by metals, resins, fibers, etc., and is formed to a long-sized chain-like structure curving around recessed parts 31. The coating layer 2 consisting of the soft rubber or the elastomer, more particularly poly(vinyl chloride) and styrene-base thermoplastic elastomer, is formed on the outside surface thereof. The coating layer 2 may be formed by extrusion molding with an extruder. The recessed parts 31 prevent the slip between the coating surface 2 and the outside surface of the core body 3, thereby preventing the slip in the longitudinal direction of both. The rope is thus made hardly elongatable and may be improved in the flexibility.
