Abstract:
To provide a slab molten-cutting method capable of restraining the occurrence of large irregularities on a slab surface by stably executing molten-cutting even when slabs with different widths are molten-cut.SOLUTION: A slab molten-cutting method comprises: a preheating process of spraying and burning combustible gas and oxygen onto the surface of a slab 1, and forming a molten metal reservoir part 3 on the surface of the slab; and a molten-cutting process of spraying molten-cutting oxygen onto the surface of the slab while carrying the slab, and molten-cutting the surface of the slab being carried by oxidation reaction heat of molten-cutting oxygen and iron. The relationship between a lapsed time from the start of oxygen injection to a manifold for supplying the molten-cutting oxygen and a pressure of the molten-cutting oxygen is determined in advance. Based on the relationship, the pressure of the molten-cutting oxygen is set within a prescribed range in an area where a jet flow of the molten-cutting oxygen passes through the molten metal reservoir part during transition from the preheating process to the molten-cut process.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
