Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove slag easily and surely by throwing a substance principally comprising calcium hydroxide onto slag floating on the molten surface and scratching off the solidified slag.

CONSTITUTION: When molten iron 13 is injected from a blast furnace into a charging pot 11 from above a blast pot 11, stag 14 floats on the iron 13. Preferably, 0.5-1.0 kg of staked lime per 1 ton of molten iron 13 is then thrown into the pot 11 in order to solidify the slag. The pot 11 is inclined and the flow-out port 12 is set substantially horizontal and a scratching rod 16 is inserted into a molten iron pot. A scratching part 18 at the forward end is immersed into the slag and the rod 16 is pulled in the direction 17 thus scratching out the solidified slag 14.
