PURPOSE: To prevent clogging of a slag tap for stably dropping slag derived from various kinds of coals from a gasification oven, by heating slag dropped from a slag tap located at the bottom of the coal gasification oven with a combustion gas ejected in a specific direction from a cylindrical heater mounted near the outside.
CONSTITUTION: A coal is gasified in a gasifying chamber 1 having a lining of a fire- resistant heat insulator 2 and located at the bottom of the gasifying oven. Slag 4 which comes down along the surface of the fire-resistant heat insulator 2 is dropped through a circular hole 5A of a disk-shaped slag tap which has the hole 5A for dropping the melted slag and can be cooled with a cooling liquid. A combustible gas and a combustion-promoting gas are ejected from each of neighboring gas ejection holes 15A and 15B of a cylindrical heater 6 which is contactly mounted on the bottom surface of the slag tap 5 and has a combustible gas chamber 13 and a combustion- promoting gas chamber 14 inside thereof, and a cooling chamber 16 outside thereof in the direction of a tangential line of a presumed circle 29 whose diameter is smaller than the inside diameter of the heater 6 but is larger than that of the hole 5A provided at the center of the slag tap 5 to cause the gas to be burnt, which impart heat to the slag 4 to maintain the flowability, thereby stably dropping the slag 4 into a water tank of a quenching vessel 28.
