PURPOSE: To prevent loss by fracturing of a ceramic sleeve due to differential thermal expansion, by allowing a metallic reticular buffer to exist between the ceramic sleeve and steel supporting shaft of a ceramic sleeve roll in a roller-hearth heat-treatment furnace.
CONSTITUTION: As a roller for use in a roller hearth-type heat treatment furnace for steel ingot, etc., a split sleeve 1 made of ceramics of alumina, etc., is attached to the periphery of the steel supporting shaft 2, and, between the above, a two-ply reticular buffer 3 consisting of a stainless-steel wire net with a mesh of No.30 by the Tyler standard and a stainless-steel wire net with a mesh of No.80 by the Tyler standard is allowed to exist. Further, at the parts to be in contact with the split sleeve, the supporting shaft 2 is loosely fitted into buffer rings 4 composed of steel wire net and, moreover, both ends of the sleeve are fastened with anchoring rings 10. In this way, the torque of the supporting shaft can surely be transmitted to the ceramic sleeve without causing the fracture loss of sleeve due to the difference in thermal expansion between the sleeve 1 made of ceramics and the steel supporting shaft and the direct collision between the sleeves.
