Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the seal function of a cylinder head gasket by positioning a bead part to be abutted on a flange part, within the thickness of the wall part of a sleeve, on the under surface of a cylinder head gasket, and whereby generating moment on the flange part of the sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder head gasket 6 to be fitted into the upper surfaces of a cylinder block 1 and a sleeve 3 is provided. A bead part 7 to be abutted on a flange part 4 is formed on the under surface of the cylinder head gasket 6. The cylinder head gasket 6 is fitted so that the bead part 7 is positioned within the thickness of the wall part of the sleeve 3. The force P working on the contact surface between the bead part 7 of the cylinder head gasket 6 and the flange part 4 of the sleeve 3 differs from the upper surface of the reaction Q working on the contact surface between the under surface of the flange part 4 of the sleeve 3 and the bottom surface of the recessed part 5 of the cylinder block 1. A moment can thus be generated on the flange part 4.
