PURPOSE: To smooth the movement of a pressing plate for pressing dried bonito in a slicing machine.

CONSTITUTION: A slicing machine is provided with a hopper 14 for enclosing cut material (a) being provided on a base, a planer 17 for making a cutting edge 16 travel along the front part opening 15 of the hopper 14 so as to cut the cut material in the hopper 14, a pressing plate 18 for pressing the cut material toward the planer 17 inside the hopper 14, and an air cylinder 19 for supporting the pressing plate 18 in the longitudinally movable state inside the hopper 14. A guide rod holding the piston rod of the air cylinder 19 in between in the vertical direction of the base is connected to the pressing plate 18. The pressing plate 18 is moved smoothly by the guide of the guide rod.
