To restrain local wear and early wear of a stem shaft in a case of somewhat increasing a relative contact angel, and to restrain a partial wear and early wear in a cam sliding surface.
A tappet 1 as a slide component for an internal combustion engine has a structure in which a metal body 2 having a stem shaft 2a and an abrasion resistance member 3 are integrated with each other via a brazing filler metal layer 4. An outer peripheral surface of the stem shaft 2a is formed into a crowning shape, and a crowning amount is set within a range from 3 to 15 μm per a shaft length 10 mm of the stem shaft 2a. By this constitution, the stem shaft 2a reciprocating along an inner wall surface of a guide hole formed into a shaft shape becomes capable of being smoothly eccentric within the guide hole so as to correspond to the crowning shape applied on the outer peripheral surface. Accordingly, local wear of the stem shaft 2a and partial wear of a cam sliding surface can be effectively restrained.
