The slide latch device 1 includes an engaging projection 10 protruded onto a sliding surface of the latch body 4. The height and position of the engaging projection 10 are set so that the projection is engaged with an edge 6a of a sliding-side wall 6 of a main body 2, when the latch body 4 is in a lock position, to retain the latch body 4 in the lock position in cooperation with a knob 11, but the engagement with the edge 6a of the sliding side wall 6 is released, when the sliding surface 8 of the latch body 4 is separated from the sliding side wall 6 against a spring 9, to allow the movement of the latch body 4 in a non-lock direction.
