To provide a slide member for an internal combustion engine and a method of forming the same.
A thermally sprayed film is formed to a slide section by thermally spraying a thermal-spraying material formed by sufficiently mixing powder which is powder for thermal spraying containing inevitable impurities and consists of Mo powder as A powder and Ni-Cr powder or Co-Cr powder as B powder and consists of either or both of a carbide of Cr or Nb and a boride of metal as C powder at ratios of 10 to 30 wt.% B powder, 20 to 40 wt.% C powder and the balance A powder. Accordingly, the thermally sprayed film consists of a ceramic layer which is suitably dense, has a firm sticking property, an excellent oil retaining property and seizure resistance and is structurally hard and an alloy layer of Mo having the seizure resistance and others and is therefore excellent in the wear resistance and seizure resistance and is effectual in improving the durability of the inner cylinder of engines, etc.
