Abstract:
To provide a slide member capable of maintaining an initial low friction coefficient for a long time.SOLUTION: A slide member 10 has a base material 11, a solid lubrication layer 12 formed on a surface of the base material 11, and a defect layer 13 in which a material defect is introduced in the solid lubrication layer 12. The defect layer 13 is likely to change to an ultra low friction layer 14 by a mechanical force rather than change from the solid lubrication layer 12 to the ultra low friction layer 14. Thus, the ultra low friction layer 14 is formed in the defect layer 13 by using as the friction member 10. As a result, an initial low friction coefficient is maintained for a long time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
