Abstract:
PURPOSE: To compose a slide member out of ceramic fiber-reinforced composite material which has abrasion resistance equal to that of a ceramic slide member used now, and excellent strength and toughness.
CONSTITUTION: A slide member is composed of composite material having ceramic fiber 8 and mother material of metal 9. The slide member has a cylindrical or columnar shape. It is preferable that the ceramic fiber 8 has its longitudinal direction oriented or arranged in the circumferential direction of the slide part.
