Abstract:

To employ a retaining mechanism that can achieve cost reduction by simplifying working steps and reducing the number of components.

A slide type constant velocity universal joint includes: an outside joint member 10 in a cup form having an opening 13 at one end and having track grooves 11 extending in an axial direction formed in a plurality of portions in the circumferential direction on an inner circumferential face 12 thereof; and an inside joint member 20 which transmits torque to the outside joint member 10 while allowing angle displacement therebetween via balls 30 inserted in the track grooves 11 of the outside joint member 10 so as to be freely rolled; wherein inner components including the balls 30 and the inside joint member 20 are housed in the outside joint member 10 in an axial direction so as to be slidable. The track grooves 11 of the outside joint member 10 are divided into an entrance section 14 located in an axially opening side of the outside joint member 10 and a torque transmission section 15 located in an axially deeper side of the outside joint member 10; and the phases of the grooves at the entrance sections 14 and at torque transmission sections 15 are shifted, and cylindrical inner circumferential portions 16 among the entrance section 14 are arranged in the axially opening sides of the torque transmission sections 15.
