To provide a sliding door latch which carries out locking by positively hooking a hook member arranged inside a stile of a sliding door on a hooked section of a bracket arranged on a door frame.

The sliding door latch has a hook member driving section 15, the bracket 19, an outside operating section 20, and an inside operating section 16. The hook member driving section is arranged inside the stile 13 of the sliding door 12 mounted in the door frame 11, and has the hook member 14 which is rotatable to be protruded/withdrawn. The bracket is arranged on the door frame 11 and has the hooked section 18 into which the hook member 14 is fitted and hooked. The outside operating section is arranged outside the stile 13, for operating the hook member driving section 15 from outside the sliding door 12. The inside operating section is arranged inside the stile 13, for operating the hook member driving section 15 from inside the sliding door 12. Herein the bracket 19 is protruded from inside of the door frame 11 on which the stile 13 of the sliding door 12 abuts, whereby the hook member 14 is not operable from a gap between the closed sliding door 12 and the door frame 11.
