To provide a sliding material for food machinery, realizing both high mechanical strength and high content of lubricating oil and satisfying the sanitation guideline stipulated by a law.

The sliding material for food machinery is produced by impregnating a lubricating oil in a porous resin material having an interconnected pore ratio of ≥30%. The porous resin material is produced by molding a resin compounded with a pore-forming material having a melting point higher than that of the resin and usable as a material for food and extracting the pore-forming material from the molded article to leave the interconnected pores by using a solvent which does not dissolve the resin.
