To provide a sliding member in which a Cr-plated film is improved from the viewpoints of the crystal orientation and the speed dependency of friction coefficient to reduce the friction and which is prevented from abnormal wear, with respect to a sliding member which has an elliptical inner peripheral surface having a Cr-plated film thereon and in which a seal member slides on the inner peripheral surface in the circumferential direction, and also to provide a method for producing the same.
The abundance ratio of (222) oriented crystals in the Cr-plated film is enhanced in comparison with the abundance ratios of other oriented crystals, and at the same time, the Cr-plated film is formed to have such characteristics that the speed dependency of friction coefficient shows a negative gradient value in a region A where the sliding speed of the seal member 2 is gradually increased and shows a positive gradient value in a region B where the sliding speed of the seal member 2 is gradually decreased.
