To provide a sliding member resistant to the abrasion of the member by a coating film formed on the sliding part of the sliding member and provide a resin coating composition for forming the coating film.

The sliding member has a surface coating film formed at least on the sliding part of the surface of a substrate. The coating film is a porous resin coating film having an interconnected pore ratio of ≥10% and produced by forming a coating layer containing a resin, a pore-forming material and hard particles, extracting the pore-forming material from the coating layer by using an extraction solvent dissolving the pore-forming material and unable to dissolve the resin and the hard particle and impregnating a lubricating oil into the interconnected pores formed by the extraction process.
