Abstract:
To provide a sliding member with an indicator, which can detect wear of a sliding member located inside an apparatus and used in a sever atmosphere with high accuracy, eliminates the need of internal wiring and enables configuration of a system at a relatively low cost, and a sliding characteristic detection system using the sliding member with the indicator.SOLUTION: A sliding member 1 is provided between two mechanical components which are relatively displaceable, is held by one first mechanical component 2 and causes a sliding surface 14 to come into sliding contact with an opposing surface of the other second mechanical component 3. In the sliding member with an indicator, the sliding member is provided with a measurement indicator 4 in which a signal of acoustic emission (AE) generated by sliding friction changes when the sliding member reaches a prescribed friction amount. The measurement indicator is formed of a dissimilar material different from a main material constituting the sliding member, and an AE signal level of the dissimilar material is larger or smaller than that of the main material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
