Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the adhesive strength of a solid lubricant film to a sliding surface for a sliding member provided with the solid lubricant film composed of diamond-like carbon (DLC) or tungsten disulfide (WS2) on the sliding surface made of steel.
SOLUTION: An intermediate layer composed of silicon, a silicon compound or a compound composed of W, S and O is formed between the sliding surface made of steel and the solid lubricant film composed of DLC or WS2. Figure 1 shows an embodiment, that is, a specimen for a ball-on-disk testing machine for examining the service life of the solid lubricant film. For example, an intermediate layer 2 of 0.05 μm-thick SiO2 is formed on a circular disk 1 made of SUS440C and a solid lubricant film 3 of 1.0 μm-thick DLC is formed thereon.
