Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the sliding member which has high wear resistance and low thermal expandability and allows rotation at a higher speed by adding an inorg. binder to ceramics fibers to form a molding having a three-dimensional network structure and impregnating an Al alloy under pressurization therein.

CONSTITUTION: The prescribed inorg. binder is added to the ceramics fibers consisting of Al2O3, SiO2, etc., to form the molding having the three-dimensional network structure. The Al alloy is impregnated under pressurization in the molten metal state in this molding and is sintered to solidify. The volumetric ratio of the above-mentioned molding is preferably 30 to 40%. The sliding member which is light in weight, has the high friction wear characteristics and is suitable for the high speed revolutions of a rotary compressor, etc., is obtd. in this way.
