Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a sliding member constituted of a metal composite material such as an Al allay having a low coefficient of friction.
CONSTITUTION: This sliding member is the one in which the grains 3 of the oxides, carbides, nitrides and silicides of group 4a, 5a, 6a, 7a, 8 and 1b elements are dispersed into a basal phase of a metal 1 such as an Al alloy to reduce its coefficient of friction into a low one and to improve its wear resistance. Moreover, at the time of forming an oxide layer of Al2O3, or the like on the surface of the metal 1, the coefficient of friction can furthermore be reduced.
