Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding part for a reciprocating internal combustion engine, preventing reduction of flow resistance of lubricating oil flowing between sliding surfaces to ensure oil film thickness of the lubricating oil, which can reduce frictional loss so that efficiency of the internal combustion engine can be improved.
SOLUTION: A dimple-shaped hollow 11 is formed in a base surface 10 of both sliding surfaces having irregularities of maximum height t, when the closest distance approached between the sliding surfaces is defined as h, when inflow/ outflow amounts of lubricating oil relating to a clearance between two parts are balanced when both the sliding surfaces are made a completely smoothed surface, h is set larger than t, at least one of averaged depths of the hollow in each sliding surface is set larger than h, a maximum diameter of the hollow in both the sliding surfaces is set to the shortest span or less in a range formed with a lubricating oil film, and an averaged value d of the maximum width of a groove in one sliding surface is set smaller than an averaged value L of the minimum distance between grooves in the other sliding surface.
