To provide a slit steel strip and a method for manufacturing it, which can prevent the occurrence of a defective shape although the slit steel strip is subjected to a leveling process.
A correlation is determined in advance among a thickness at the slitting position of a base material, a difference Δt(tc-te) in thickness between both crosswise edges of the slit steel strip and the amount of a crown caused when the slit steel strip is subjected to the leveling process. The thickness difference Δt at which the amount of the crown becomes a crown limit value or less is determined from the thickness at the slitting position on the basis of the correlation. Then the base material with the thickness difference Δt is manufactured and is slit crosswise into two strips.
