PURPOSE: To automate the sliver joining by installing a sliver holding lever which can move reciprocally crossing a sliver guide groove onto the body of a sliver joining head and installing the sliver holding members onto the both sides of the sliver guide groove, in the sliver joining head used in the case when two slivers are joined in a spinning machine.
CONSTITUTION: A sliver joining head 60 consists of a head body 171 having a sliver guide groove 173 formed at the top edge part and a sliver holding lever 174 which can move reciprocally crossing the sliver guide groove 173. The body 171 is fixed onto a sliver joining head supporting lever 148 having a section in U-form. The sliver holding lever 174 is supported in turnable ways in the vicinity of the center onto a pivotal installation pin 178 fixed onto the body 171, and a pin 179 is installed in projection at the rear edge. A sliver holding lever operating bar 182 is arranged in slidable ways onto the sliver joining head supporting bar 148, and an operating member 181 having an opened port for accommodating the pin 179 at the top edge is fixed with the operating bar 182. Further, nip pieces 176 and 177 are fixed onto the upper surface of the body 171 on the both sides of the sliver guide groove 173.
