To provide a sludge dehydrating unit capable of flocculating sucked sludge, separating coarse refuse and foreign matter, and efficiently dehydrating the sludge in a short time to reduce volume, and an on-vehicle sludge sucking/dehydrating apparatus.
The on-vehicle sludge sucking/dehydrating apparatus is provided with a sludge buffer tank 12 for sucking and temporarily storing sludge. The sludge buffer tank 12 comprises a coarse matter separation chamber, a flocculation tank into which a flocculant is added. A water-permeable partition plate 11 separates the coarse matter separation chamber and the flocculation chamber from each other so that the plate 11 inhibits solid matter from migrating into the sedimentation tank side. A mixture of the liquid component and solid component of the sludge flocculated in the coarse matter separation chamber and the flocculation chamber is transferred to an opposing plunger type screen dehydrator (sludge dehydrating unit) 14 for dehydrating the sludge.
