PURPOSE: To economize the amt. of washing water and to dehydrate continuously and efficiently flocculated sludge, by providing a mechanism for detecting and washing automatically the contamination of a filter cloth.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge 4 is supplied with a sludge supply device 3 onto a filter cloth 2 which is moved by a pair of rolls 1 rotated by a driving device. The sludge 4 is sandwiched with a filter cloth by guide rolls 6 and is compressed and dehydrated by the same, whereafter the sludge is scraped by a scraper 7 and is discharged as dehydrated cake 8. The degree of contamination of the cloth 2 by dehydration is detected with a detector 9 and washing water is injected from a supply device 11 for washing water through a controller 10 so that the filter cloth 2 is automatically washed. The filtrate of dehydration and the waste washing water are collected in a filtrate receiver 12 and are discharged therefrom.
