A means for drying a dehydrated cake stored in a cake hopper 13 is provided in the cake hopper 13 for storing the dehydrated cake produced by a dehydrator 11. In the concrete, a pipe line 19 through which steam is passed is arranged in a sludge storing part 14 of the cake hopper 13. The flow rate of the steam having passed through the pile line 19 is controlled to keep the temperature of the sludge storing part 14 to be in a prescribed range to keep the adequate drying state of the sludge.
