To provide a sludge treatment apparatus in which organic sludge can completely freely be subjected efficiently to the treatment related to methane fermentation even when the organic sludge, the impurities of which are not removed by a screen arranged at the preceding stage and which contains impurities to some degree, is charged in the sludge treatment apparatus as it is.
This sludge treatment apparatus is provided with: a reaction tank 2 in which acid-fermented sludge is produced by fermenting the organic sludge to be charged from the outside under an anaerobic condition; a sludge discharging means (a pipeline 22 and the screen 23) for discharging the acid-fermented sludge produced in the reaction tank to the outside of the reaction tank; an agitation crusher 4 arranged in the reaction tank for crushing the organic sludge in the reaction tank while agitating it; and a precipitate discharging part 21 for discharging the precipitates accumulated at the bottom of the reaction tank to the outside of the reaction tank.
