To provide a sludge water shield excavating machine which enables the intake of gravel without closing the gravel intake opening of a partition wall and enables the gravel to be crushed below respective diameters allowing the gravel penetration of a sludge discharge pipe, a gravel crushing device or a pump in a sludge water shield method, and also to provide the sludge water shield method used for the same.
In the sludge water shield excavating machine which connects a sludge feeding pipe 15 with the sludge discharge pipe 16 through the partition wall 13 in a chamber 14 arranged behind a cutter head 11 and excavates the ground by forcedly feeding discharged sludge water with a pump, the sludge water shield excavating machine has a gravel crushing device 17 which is provided with a housing 24 that has an intake opening 25a opened to the chamber and a discharge opening 25b connected with the intake opening 32a of the sludge discharge pipe, forms a part of a passage for feeding the discharged sludge water in the sludge discharge pipe 16, and allows the inner diameter of the intake opening to be larger than that of the sludge discharge pipe and to be gradually reduced toward a rear side, fixed teeth 26 attached to the inner circumference of the housing, and rotating teeth 29 rotatably arranged in the housing.
