Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the small-diameter lateral view endoscope which enables observation with an excellent visual field and is reducible in diameter by making luminous flux reflected by an optical reflecting surface incident on an image formation optical system through an optically transparent medium.
CONSTITUTION: This endoscope consists of a rod type optical reflecting element 1, the image formation system 2, and an image transmission system 3. The rod type reflecting element 1 is slanted at the end part on the side of the image formation optical system 2 at about 45° to a plane perpendicular to the optical axis O, and a reflecting surface 4 for converting the visual field direction is formed on the slanting surface. Further, the optically transparent medium 5 fills between the reflecting element 1 and the 1st surface of the image formation optical system 2. This endoscope has a light guide 6 for lighting, a jacket 7 which has a projection window 8 atop, etc. Then, when the distance on the optical axis from the reflecting surface 4 to the 1st surface of the image formation optical system 2 is L', the distance L' needs to be set within a constant range so as to secure an excellent visual field where a light beam is not eclipsed.
