Title:
SMALL-SIZED CURRENT FUSE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3274699
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reliably prevent breakage of a fuse element possibly occurring in a case where an arc extinguishing agent is adhered to the fuse element, by making sufficiently small the volume thereof to enable sufficient arc extinguishment even by an arc extinguishing agent free of contact therewith.
CONSTITUTION: In a current fuse wherein a fuse element 3 is bridged between a pair of electrodes 1 and 1 and the resulting structure is surrounded by a case 5, an arc-extinguishing agent 4 is coated on at least one element 1. Usually, the distance between the electrodes is 9.5mm or less while the diameter of a fuse element is 95μm or less. Since, in this way, the volume of the fuse element is made small and the metallic vapor component pressure attributable to gasification of the fuse element during current fuse operation can be made low, mere contact with the metal vapor of the gas generated due to fuse-element melting heat of the arc extinguishing agent coated on the electrode enables sufficient arc extinguishment to prevent generation of arc.
