Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove a smear component by considering the difference of reading time in reading an information charge from a solid-state image pickup element.
SOLUTION: A removal circuit is provided with a first removal circuit 10 and a second removal circuit 20. A subtracter 11 substracts first smear data D1 (n) from image data S1(n) and outputs it as image data S2(n) which does not contain the smear component. The frame memory 21 of the second removal circuit 20 makes image data S(n) correspond to the row and column positions of respective light receiving bits and stores them in one screen unit. A line memory 22 stores image data S(n) for one row, and responds to the detection of the saturated area 25 of the respective columns. In a subtracter 24, smear data D2(n) is subtracted from image data S2(n), and third image data is obtained.
