Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the remaining metal quantity in slag.

CONSTITUTION: This method is the one dividing a reducing smelting into a smelting reduction period and a finish reduction period. In the smelting reduction period, raw material, such as chromium ore, carbonaceous material, flux, is charged and also, blowing of oxygen is executed, and in the finish reduction period, the charge of the raw material is stopped and the blowing of the oxygen is executed until the carbonaceous material in the slag does not exist. When the carbonaceous material in the slag does not exist, the metal stuck to the carbonaceous material does not exist and also, the viscosity of the slag is lowered. By lowering of this viscosity, the granular metal produced at the time of blowing is easily settled and separated from the slag. Therefore, the remaining metal quantity in the slag becomes little and the metal loss at the time of removing the slag is remarkably reduced.
