Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simplify equipment and to improve reduction efficiency of iron ore in a pre-reduction furnace and secondary combustion ratio in a smelting reduction furnace by blowing powdery raw material into ascending gas stream within the specific range from the furnace wall at the time of blowing top- blowing oxygen.

CONSTITUTION: In the smelting reduction furnace, at the time of blowing the top-blowing oxygen, the powdery raw material of powdery coal or powdery ore is blown into the ascending gas stream in the furnace within the range 1/3 to center direction from the furnace wall. It is desirable that grain size Dp of the blown coal is below either smaller one among 2mm in size or a value obtained from the equation. In the equation, V is gas flowing velocity (m/sec) in an exhaust gas duct. By this method, gas in the exhaust gas duct is reformed and high pre-reduction and the operation having high secondary combustion can be executed.
