To provide a snap ring for shaft capable of being easily resiliently deformed, capable of performing fixing/removing work without requiring more than necessary force, capable of facilitating the fixing/removing work, capable of preventing the snap ring from snapping away especially at the time of fixing, and capable of improving safety in attachment work.
A plurality of inner notches 3, 3a, ... and protrusions 4, 4a, ... are formed alternately at the inner circumferential part of a C-shaped basic material 2 provided with an opening 1 at one position of the outer circumferential part thereof, and outer notches 5, 5a, ... are formed at the positions of the outer circumferential part corresponding to the parts between the inner notches 3, 3a, ..., wherein the opening 1 is enlarged toward the outer circumferential side. Since the snap ring is resiliently deformed easily without requiring more than necessary force at the time of fixing/removing, the snap ring for shaft can be fixed/removed easily while preventing the E type snap ring for the shaft from snapping away especially at the time of fixing.
