PURPOSE: To present a snow melting device of a low operational cost by a constitution that both end sections of a plurality of heat pipes of a condenser installed on the roof surface and those of an evaporator which transfers heat between itself and the condenser are connected by a header tube.
CONSTITUTION: Because, when it is snowy, a condenser 2 is cooled by the snow and its temperature drops and on the other hand an evaporator 4 receives heat from hot water 31 to raise its temperature, the evaporation of a condensing fluid takes place in the evaporator 4, and the pressure inside of the condenser 2 becomes lower. Accordingly the vapor of the condensing fluid goes from the upper header 42 of the evaporator to the upper header 22 of the condenser 2 via a vapor pipe 5. Because in the inside of the heat pipes 21 of the condenser 2 the heat is taken away by the outside snow, the vapor of the condensing fluid gives its latent heat to the snow and it is liquefied inside of the heat pipes 21. Further, after the condensing fluid which was liquefied is collected in the lower header 23 of the condenser 2, it is returned by the lower header 43 of the evaporator 4 via a liquid return pipe 6.
