The device includes a snowshoe frame that is parted in two at a center of its length, and a freely folding member is provided to make the frame free to fold for a user to traverse on a steep slope, narrowing the width, and loosening the shoe mounting belts, so that the snowshoe is freely positioned perpendicular to the slope. A position where a front frame and a back frame are overlapped is varied, so that proper grounding area of the snowshoe can be adapted to snow quality in a single snowshoe.
