To provide a sodium-free flux which prevents the adhesion and deposition of an unreacted flux and secures a high slag-removing effect, when treating a molten aluminum alloy with the use of a sodium-free flux and a flux-injection rotary degassing device, and to provide a method for treating the molten aluminum alloy using the same.
The sodium-free flux comprises, by mass%, 80-95% AlF3, 2.5-10% KCl and 2.5-10% K2SO4 as essential components, and the balance other chlorides, fluorides and nitrides in a total amount of 5% or less. The method for treating the aluminum alloy comprises the steps of: immersing a rotor of the above device in the molten aluminum alloy and holding it; spouting an inert gas and the flux from a nozzle into the molten metal; and rotating the rotor at 200 to 450 rpm to float inclusions in the molten metal with fine bubbles and the flux up to the surface of the molten metal and thereby to remove gases and slag.
