PURPOSE: To reduce power loss significantly in a D/A inverter and to enhance the transmission efficiency by transmitting DC power, as it is, from a battery facility to a train.
CONSTITUTION: Transformed AC power from a transformer 3 is inverted through a D/A converter 4 comprising a thyristor inverter into DC power. When power from the D/A inverter 4 is not fed to a battery facility 5 but fed through a DC transmission line 6 to a train 7, a switching element or a unit constitutes the battery facility 5. The circuit is switched for every group of a large number of batteries by switching the connection of external wiring of the battery facility. Since the output of power stored in the battery facility can be regulated, the battery power storage system can be operated efficiently through connection with a control system 10. Furthermore, since D/A conversion accompanied with high power loss is required only once for transmitting power to a train, high efficiency low loss transmission can be realized.
