Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil determination method for eliminating the influence of the shape of a penetration body on soil determination.SOLUTION: In penetration test for, when rotating a penetration rod 1 having the penetration body at the front end to penetrate into a ground, measuring the rotation torque of the penetration rod 1 while stepwise changing load W applied onto the penetration rod 1, soil determination is performed on the basis of a value dT/dWD obtained by using the maximum diameter D of the penetration body for normalizing a rate dT/dW of a change of the rotation torque T to change of the load W. In this case, a testing parameter is used as a dimensionless number to pattern fluctuation of the testing parameter. Thus, the soil determination can also be performed on the basis of the rotation torque in the penetration test using the penetration body having a different size, while allowing relative comparison in homogeneous dimensions.
