Abstract:
The collector has a casing (11) with a bottom (12) and sides (13) of a polyethylene foam with hard surfaces. The inside of the bottom is covered with a layer of quartz (16) with an upper sheet (17) of aluminium foil. The absorber (18) lies on top of this. It is made from two flat sheets of metal welded together at their edges and spot welded at points over their surface. Water under pressure is pumped into it and forces the upper sheet out into raised corrugations between the spot welds. This forms a hollow space between the two sheets through which water to be heated can be circulated. The water is heated by direct contact with the entire surface of both parts of the collector.
