To develop a solar heat rocket improved in performance under a practical approach.
This solar heat rocket is provided with a heat-insulated thermal energy storage section 12; a radiation internal heater 14 communicating with one end of the thermal energy storage section 12; a propeller nozzle 18 communicating with a second end of the thermal energy storage section 12; a primary sunlight concentrator 16 selectively movable between a first position of directing solar energy toward the thermal energy storage section and a second position of directing solar energy mainly toward the radiation internal heater 14; and a propellant storage container 28 communicating with the radiation internal heater 14. The solar heat rocket can further be provided with a secondary sunlight concentrator 14 provided at the thermal energy storage section 12. The primary sunlight concentrator 16 is selectively movable so as to direct solar energy to either the thermal energy storage section 12 or the radiation internal heater 14. The use of the radiation internal heater 14 extends a maximum temperature period and produces much higher mean specific impact on the whole.
