Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solar sail capable of efficiently performing orbit control while not changing the attitude of a spacecraft body.SOLUTION: A solar sail includes: small sails 11 divided in triangular sail blocks R having one apexes at a spacecraft body, each sail block being formed in a rectangular plate shape with a one side face forming a reflection surface; connection bodies 12 engaging with four corners of the small sails, juxtaposing and holding the plural small sails at predetermined intervals; an actuator 14 connected with one ends of the connection bodies and changing the angles of the reflection surfaces of the small sails by adjusting the lengths of the connection bodies; and weights 13 provided at the other ends of the connection bodies and spreading the solar sail formed of the plural sail blocks by centrifugal force generated when the spacecraft body spins.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
