Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the second valve opening action onward correctly taking account of the generation of residual magnetic flux in a continuous valve opening action mode of putting a valve in opening action continuously plural times, and reduce energy consumption.

CONSTITUTION: A fuel injection valve is opened by applying a current to a driving solenoid 30 so as to inject high pressure fuel. An ECU 4 sets either a normal injection mode of performing only main injection or a pilot injection mode of performing also pilot injection prior to main injection, according to the operating state of a diesel engine. The ECU sets lower voltage in the pilot injection mode than in the normal injection mode, as the voltage applied to the driving solenoid 30 of the fuel injection valve 3. At the time of the normal injection mode, the ECU 4 applies a current once to the driving solenoid 30 to perform main injection, and at the time of the pilot injection mode, the ECU 4 applies a current twice to the driving solenoid 30 to perform pilot injection and main injection.
