To provide a compact and inexpensive ink jet recording device that uses reduced number of solenoid valves, saves space for the device, and to provide an inexpensively manufacturable solenoid valve.
The solenoid valve has: a first end portion with a plurality of fluid passages to be connected to the outside; a second end portion with a plurality of fluid passages to be connected to the outside, and is located on a side opposite to the first end portion; and a switching mechanism which opens/closes the fluid passages formed at the first and second end portions. The switching mechanism opens any of the fluid passages formed at the first end portion, and simultaneously closes any of the fluid passages formed at the second end portion when not in operation, and closes any of the opened fluid passages at the first end portion and simultaneously opens any of the closed fluid passages at the second end portion when in operation.
