PURPOSE: To dispense with air vent operation after assembling and facilitate maintenance by providing a seal member which keep fluid-tightness between a rod and a core when the rod is at a receding position, between a core and the rod which is connected to a plunger electromagnetically driven.

CONSTITUTION: A solenoid valve adopted to a brake liquid pressure controlling device or the like is prepared by fitting a coil support member 56 housing a cylindrical coil 54 into a cylindrical main body 50, and concentrically arrange a plunger 60 and a core 62 on its inner peripheral part. One end of a rod 68 is press-fitted into the plunger 60, while the other end of the rod 68 is slidably fitted to a through-hole 64 of the core 62. A valve body 74 is provided on a large end of the rod 68. A valve seat member 84 is arranged oppositely to the valve body 74. A seal surface 66 is formed on an opening surface of the through-hole 64 of the core 62, on the side facing a valve chamber 86. A seal surface 76 is formed on the surface opposed to the rod 68, and then a seal means is prepared. The through-hole 64 is sealed when the rod 68 is at a receiding position.
