Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high activity molded catalyst having high compressive strength, free of breaking when packed into a reactor vessel and retaining its original solid acidity as a solid acid catalyst which simultaneously desulfurizes and isomerizes light hydrocarbon oil containing organic sulfur compounds. SOLUTION: (A) A sulfuric acid radical-containing material is added to zirconium hydroxide to sulfate the zirconium hydroxide, (B1 ) pseudo-boehmite is added as a binder to the sulfated zirconium hydroxide and kneaded with an aqueous solution containing a group VIII metal or (B2 ) a group VIII metal is carried on the sulfated zirconium hydroxide and kneaded with an aqueous solution containing a binder, (C) the kneaded material is molded in a catalyst shape and (D) the resulting molding is fired at 550-800 deg.C to produce the objective catalyst. In hydrodesulfurization and isomerization, light hydrocarbon oil having <=700 mass ppm sulfur content and hydrogen are brought into contact with the catalyst under the reaction conditions of 160-240 deg.C, 1.0-4.5 MPa pressure, 1.0-10 h<-1> LHSV and a hydrogen to oil ratio of 100-1,000 NL/L.
